The Rochester Knighthawks (4-4) will face the Edmonton Rush (2-6) tomorrow night for the first time this season. The Rush have struggled thus far, as evidenced by their record, which will allow Rochester a good opportunity to rebound from their two-game losing streak.
Gavin Prout currently leads the Rush in scoring with 9 goals and 23 assists. Prout was a Knighthawk for about two seconds last season. Prior to the start of the season, Rochester traded Ilija Gajic to Colorado in exchange for Gavin Prout and two first-round draft picks, one of which resulted in the Knighthawks obtaining Cody Jamieson in the 2010 Entry Draft. (Looking at this trade, is it any wonder the Colorado Mammoth are currently in last place?) The Knighthawks almost immediately traded Prout to Edmonton for their first round pick in the 2011 draft, however.
The story tomorrow night will probably be Scott Evans rolling into town as an opponent for the first time in his NLL career. Rochester traded Evans to Edmonton earlier this season for defenseman Rory Glaves. Both players have proven to be key additions to their respective teams. Evans had 5 goals for the Rush last weekend against the Calgary Roughnecks. Now he'll be looking to use his hot stick against the Knighthawks.
Shawn Evans still leads the Knighthawks with 35 points. It will be interesting to see how the two Evans brothers will behave on opposite teams.
The game tomorrow starts at the usual time, 7:35pm EST. The first 5,000 fans to the Blue Cross Arena will receive free Knighthawks rally towels.
